Krishnendu Porel had completed his art education B.V.A in 1991 and M.F.A. in 1994 .Then in 1999 he went to Germany for further study in fine arts.
Porel was very sound in his academic studies like drawing, sketches , in all mediums like graphite, charcoal, crayon etc oil paintings on canvas , water colours on paper in a word he became an expert in all mediums . His work started getting appreciation even before he got admission in art college. He used to get awards in annual art exhibition every year in art college . Landscapes, cityscapes, portraits, human figures all were his favorite but he had a passion for architecture as he grew up in Calcutta – the city is full of architecture of the colonial period .
His mastery in oil paintings gave him many awards but the most glorious was when M.F.Hussain selected 3 of his oil paintings for an exhibition –“In search of young talent “( Hussain was the only jury of that show) and in the next year 1992 he got a solo show in Delhi . This exhibition was highly appreciated by the art world of Delhi and notable art critics of Delhi had put their Pens on Porel’s works .
All went very well and he went to Benaras Hindu University for M.F.A. and he stayed over there for three years . This period had made a deep impact in his artistic life , he came out from academic studies and made his own world .
